North Coast Native Protectors are outreaching a statewide Tribal Marine Collaborative. The TMC serves as a platform for Tribes and Indigenous people all over California and across Turtle Island to come together to express concerns, support each other, share challenges and successes, network, and find solutions.
To promote clean water, healthy oceans and tribal marine management. Our goal is for Indigenous communities to understand and participate in the community citizen science projects, University research, and marine management that may be happening within their ancestral lands.
North Coast Native Protectors and the Tribal Marine Collaborative (TMC) is not meant to replace or be the voice for any Tribe, but is to provide a forum for Indigenous peoples to have the ability to speak of their experiences and connection to the ocean and marine resources of cultural significance. TMC is not trying nor will it replace the voice of Tribal Governments who are the only authorized entity to speak for a Sovereign Nation. TMC has members of diverse backgrounds, tribal affiliations and extensive experience in Tribal Marine Affairs.
